Summary

When an injury brings her back to her family’s Montana ranch, Hazel tells herself it’s temporary. Help her aunt. Lend a hand. Then leave before the past catches up with her.

There’s just one problem.

Eli Dawson.

Her childhood best friend. The neighboring rancher who’s been quietly keeping Clarke Ranch running. The man she walked away from without a word the morning after they finally crossed the line from friendship to something more.

Eli isn’t chasing her anymore. He’s steady. Guarded. And done risking his heart on someone who already proved she could leave.

But as Hazel settles back into ranch life, old sparks reignite and long-buried feelings resurface. With the future of the ranch uncertain and a life waiting for her elsewhere, Hazel is forced to decide what matters more — the plans she made… or the love she never quite left behind.

A heartfelt, slow-burn ranch romance filled with cowboys, second chances, and a love worth staying for..

Single narration by Shane Martinez. Good job with the narration and clear distinction between Eli and Hazel.

Eli was such a good guy, very green flag. Strong and showed his feelings more then speaks them.
Hazel was running and scared and just needed to make a real choice and feel the past to move on. I was telling her just make the choice already because she wasn’t gonna find someone like Eli and ranch life is where it is.
Now I need Chance & Abby because the banter and snap between them was leading to so much more. Great first book to the series and as a debut novel.
A childhood friends, a neighboring ranch to romance until she runs and five years later she is back, maybe, to help her aunt. So a little bit of second chance and slow burn.
