The attempt at a upper class British accent really distracted me from the story line so the book itself may actually be better than 3 stars. I would really recommend listening to a sample first. If you're British you might be better off reading this one.

Awful accent distracted me from the story line

Only 4 chapters in and I really can’t get past the awful accent!! As an English person myself I am actually offended by this performance. I have never heard anyone speak like this in my life! I loved the actors voice for this character in king of wrath so thought this would be good. However it’s a hilarious joke! The way he pronounced piano and rolled his ‘R’s all the time made me physically cringe! Don’t waste your money!

I love listening to these books but in this case the English accent is ridiculous. It is way over the top. This really spoilt the listening enjoyment. I realise the narrator is attempting to give the impression of a wealthy, Oxford educated gentleman but please believe me when I say that is not how they sound.

Why? The British accent is so bad it’s completely off putting. It’s not even a posh English accent. It was so bad. I really wanted the hear the story so I persevered and about half way I could sort of not hear how bad it was. It’s a fine story and the other narration was good.
