Orphaned at an early age, Jane Eyre leads a lonely life until she finds work as a governess at Thornfield Hall, where she meets the mysterious Mr. Rochester and sees a ghostly woman who roams the halls by night.
The relationship between the heroine and Mr. Rochester is only one episode, albeit the most important, in a detailed fictional autobiography in which the author transmuted her own experience into high art. In this work, the plucky heroine is outwardly of plain appearance but possesses an indomitable spirit, a sharp wit, and great courage. She is forced to battle against the exigencies of a cruel guardian, a harsh employer, and the rigid social order that circumscribes her life and position.

Where does Jane Eyre rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
1st!What did you like best about this story?
The love story, made all the more powerful by Jane's determination to do the right thing, regardless of personal cost. What does Wanda McCaddon bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?
Her voice and accent are perfect to my ears. I enjoy the voices she puts on, particularly that of Mr Rochester. Her Yorkshire accent is very good. I learned a few new pronunciations too. What I like most is that she doesn't overdo anything, which can spoil the whole experience. A reader I will seek out to listen to again.Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
There are many instances in this book which tug at my heart strings. It brought tears to my eyes on occasion, and once or twice a grin.Any additional comments?
This is a truly wonderful book, which I'm sure I shall read/listen to again.Thank you☺Ms Bronte would like Ms McCaddon
