Death, Fear, Love, Emotions, Spirits

Step inside the mind of Donna Francart, a former deputy coroner, as she describes to you her years of medicolegal death investigations. What began as her personal diary written to herself, her way of debriefing, began to form a heartbeat of it's own.

She has allowed her innermost thoughts to be shared, with you, of the fears, tears, and anger she battled with along the way and the profound lessons she learned, not only from the dead but also from the living.

Contains mature themes.

This isn't so much a case history-type of book so if you really prefer that format, this probably isn't the book for you even though the 'Diary of a deputy coroner' subtitle may lead you to think it is.
It's very much how the author feels rather than anything she actually does and dwells a LOT on vague, explainable events which are put down to supernatural causes rather than something more ordinary like the wind, waking from sleep etc.
All in all I can't really say I think this person was suited to the work as she seems too emotional, too empathetic ... noble qualities but perhaps not when dealing with death when the focus should be on the people you deal with, not yourself.
Also something which wasn't addressed was she starts off saying she was dismissed for writing a book even though she hadn't written one at that time. Surely any employment lawyer would have asked them to produce the book she was supposed to have written? I'm sure there's an explanation but frustratingly, none is offered.
On the plus side, it was well narrated.

It's a bit .....meh
