After an entire adulthood that has revolved around being a mom (or dad), suddenly having an empty nest can be more than daunting. The feelings of loneliness and depression can be hard to manage, and the separation from children can feel like rejection. The sudden idleness can feel like loss of purpose. But we don't have to accept this as the norm.

This book not only gives the listener a good perspective about the realities of an empty nest, but gives really concrete ways to take charge of your life, cope with the changes, and thrive in the life phases that follow. I also liked the focus on rekindling your marriage, if it has suffered through the years. It was a good reminder that if you once loved your spouse, you can love them again! I enjoyed this book and highly recommend it.

We have three kids, and I'm not looking forward to seeing them leave "the nest." I cannot imagine how I will be able to manage my emotions when it actually happens. However, this book was a great help in starting my mind churning over the reality of that eventuality. It was written in an empathic tone, and the narration was also performed extremely well. It's practical, insightful, and I highly recommend it. It's much needed for parents like me who are dreading those days and currently feel unprepared.

What a wonderful book for learning how to start reconstructing your life after your kids leave home. I have a 17-year-old and I cannot even imagine what it would be like not to have her in my home. Having this book helped me realize that there are benefits for both parent and child of when the child leaves home. Learning to be proud of the child you have raised, ready and willing to move out of the home. For so many years, you devote your entire life to your children and then the home is empty one day. The author did a great job of laying out the book in a way to help guide you in to what next steps lie ahead. First, with addressing the feelings of being an empty nester, then moving forward with what to do next. Chapter 6, letting go so they grow, was impactful for me. Everything we strive for as a parent can be summed up in this chapter. I cannot say enough good things about this book. Great for preparing yourself for the empty nest or addressing that you are currently are an empty nester. THis author truly understands the concerns and anxieties of being an empty nester.

I wish I had this book a few years ago. I remember how I was getting anxious about my son growing up and leaving home. I thought I was mentally prepared, but I wasn't. Even now, a few years later, I have occasional anxiety about it and a feeling of being lost. This book helped me tremendously to re-evaluate my situation and an empty-nester status and start living my life again as an independent person with a bright future ahead of me, making plans, and being grateful for and proud of my parenthood. Moving to the next stage in life is suddenly an exciting process!

I was very intrigued to listen to this audiobook to understand just what my mom and dad went through recently when my younger brother graduated from college and was deployed to Colorado.

I spoke with my mom about what Pamela Fariole talks about in the book about her experience going through this phase, and whether my mom had similar feelings of sadness and how she felt unsure about her purpose now that us kids were out of the house. My mom even used many of the tips herself, like daily exercise and speaking more with my Gramma, to help her get through this phase. It was great to hear that the advice was practical and effective.

The narrator of the audiobook was also fantastic. They did an incredible job of bringing the book to life and keeping me engaged from start to finish. I really appreciated their clear and expressive delivery.

Overall, I would highly recommend this audiobook to anyone who is going through the empty nest phase or knows someone who is. It's a must-listen for anyone looking for practical advice on how to cope with this difficult time.
