On arriving home after a friend’s posh wedding, launderette worker Harriet finds her flat has been ransacked and her boyfriend is missing. Shortly afterward, she is harassed by East End gangsters and upper-crust aristocrats. Accepting an offer she can’t refuse, Harriet, against her better judgement, becomes the fiancée of the wealthy Hamilton Lancaster, with dire consequences. What she had not bargained on was meeting Doctor Brice Edmunds.

Harriet’s Big Fat Wedding Blunder is Lynda Renham’s funniest novel. A cocktail of misunderstandings, three unlikely gangsters, a monkey, and a demented cat make this novel a hysterical listen. Follow Harriet’s adventure where every attempt to get out of trouble puts her deeper in it.

Let's get my complaint out of the way first! My face hurts, (I know, I know, my face has been making people hurt for years), from smiling! This was like opening the window on a crisp, spring morning and letting the fresh air rush in. It was a warm embrace when you're feeling blue, an open-log fire on a snowy, winter's day. OK, enough with the metaphorical musings and onto some facts. Lynda Renham has cracked it with this book; it's funny, endearing, absorbing and a real British farce! All the characters are suitably bonkers, even the normal ones, and when they interact with each other, chaos, misunderstandings and madness ensues. Bravo to Rosie Akerman for her performance, there were a lot of characters, many voices and accents and this was a real challenge to narrate. Ms AKerman did a superb job, how she did it without losing her mind is beyond me, but you can only stand back and admire her work. Of course, a narrator can only be as good as the words allow, and Ms Renham gave Ms Akerman some of the choicest cuts to work with. Harriet's Big Fat Wedding Blunder is British humour at its best. Making fun of ourselves, our class system and the characters and caricatures within. A 5 star hit and over 9 hours of smiles, chuckles, laughs and joy. Tremendous!

Well, I didn’t expect to have so many laugh out loud moments while listening to this audiobook! It is such a light-hearted, funny story and it's a perfect choice if you are in need of some cheering up. I found it easy to connect to Harriet, the main character: whether it was to agree with her decisions, get frustrated about the choices she made or laugh at her/with her depended on the actual situation. The narrator was an added bonus and brought the whole story to life. Well done, I really enjoyed it!

A very funny romantic comedy with a great story-line and excellent narration. A different genre to other books by Lynda Renham (which are also very good).

A very funny book!

The actual book (paper back) goes by the title The Dog's Bollocks. I have read this about 3 or 4 times because it is that funny. Not many books can have you in stitches, laughing out aloud, where you get strange looks from passers by or "what's so funny" from those close to you. It's ridiculously funny and witty.. It's quirky like Bridgit Jones, but a lot more laughs. NOW I CAN ONLY DREAM OF IT BEING MADE INTO A MOVIE! Go on, try it, if you want a good belly laugh.

This is my first book by this author so I had no idea what to expect, what I got was a very good fun, romantic and easy to listen to book. I laughed out loud so many times that I was glad, for once, that I live alone. It's a light-hearted, funny and uplifting story, I may not have always agreed with Harriet's choices, in fact, at times I got frustrated with the choices she made but I was totally engaged in listening to her story.

I really liked the ending even though it was a little predictable. I will definitely listen to more work by both this author and narrator.

The narrator was very good and did an excellent job with all the different characters in the story. There were lots of characters too so no easy feat!

I was given a copy of this audiobook as a gift and am voluntarily writing my review.
