About this listen

He hadn’t always just been my brother’s best friend. There was a time when he was mine, too. Until he disappeared from our small town when I needed him the most.

Now, Caden’s back. With his cocky smirk and infuriating nicknames. And I’m struggling to ignore his presence.

When my ex refuses to leave me alone, Caden steps in, suggesting that it will get my ex and Caden’s calculating father off both our backs if we just pretend to be madly in love.

There’s just one problem.… Nothing I feel for Caden Shaw is fake—even when I thought I hated him. And there’s no denying how the touch of his lips sparks a flame I’ll never be able to extinguish.

As those pretend moments start to turn oh so real, someone’s watching. They’re not happy about Caden’s new role in my life. And they’ll do anything to rip me away from him—even burn us all to the ground….

I am not sure how Catherine Cowles does it, but each of her stories is fresh and exciting. This is the third book in her Lost & Found series, and while there are glimpses of some of the previous book characters, this story is original and beautiful. Caden was Grae's brother's best friend, you know, the one that is like family, yet has that flicker of a crush as you grow up. Grae and Caden shared a special relationship, meeting in their special place and just talking. But when Caden's sister died of cancer, things changed for him. Then Grae took sick while with Caden, and he wast lost. Not wanting to let his heart lose another he disappeared. But now he's back and the idea is for the two to have a fake relationship to get Caden's dad off his back and a guy Grae dated off hers. But is it fake? Feelings grow, but it's not just about the blossoming romance. It's about Caden's family business and the animosity with his brother. It's about dealing with a chronic illness and not have people remind you constantly. It's about independence and most of all about safety. Cowles sneaks in a fantastic thread of suspense that had me guessing the entire time. This is an amazing listen!!

And to bring this gem to life, Joe Arden and Erin Mallon team up with their incredible talents. Arden is always a pleasure to listen to and with his portrayal of Caden and he delves into the many layers this man has. Each slowly peels away and we get every feel. Mallon brings out the independent, strong woman that Grae is. She is fiercely loyal and loves with her whole heart, and with every nuance Mallon shines it through. Loved these two and enjoyed the narrations!

So romantic with a little suspense!

A book I’ve been so looking forward to reading and listening to. I love this series. The characters, the setting and the complexities of small town living. Secrets, shame and loss abide within this small town. Caden and Grae know this feeling well. Grae lost Cdedn when he pulled away from him when she was younger. He lost his sister and never recovered from it, neither did his family. Amongst all the heartache and pain lies a couple who is stronger than they think they are. Amongst Al this is a person who’s not right and makes life a living nightmare for this family. Caden will be Grae’s strength and vice versa. I loved how they pulled together for each other. How all the family did to make sure Grae was safe. Wonderful story of love and redemption and courage. The narration was absolutely brilliant too. This enhances the experience exponentially for me. Catherine Cowles continues to blow me away with another exceptional romantic suspense novel, a love story like no other with a side of thrilling suspense, and I love how she masters both genres. Once I started the book, I could not stop and the only thing that mattered was what was happening next. The characters are realistic, easy to relate to and connect with, they are easy to care about too. Caden Shaw may have been Grae Hartley’s brother’s best friend, but the two of them shared a special bond and friendship. Caden lost his sister, Clara, to cancer and that changed something in him and when Grae fell ill while they were hanging out, something broke in him, something that caused him to disappear. He returns to Cedar Ridge when his father beckons him home and, as much as Grae wants to ignore him, she just can’t. Caden’s father gives him a hard time about his playboy ways and wants him to settle down. He also likes to see his two sons go up against each other competitively, and nothing good comes out of it. He and his brother are at constant odds and his brother’s animosity towards him has gotten worse. When he finds out a guy Grae dated is giving her a hard time, he comes up with the fake relationship plan, it would get his father off his back and her ex off of hers. She was not sure if she could do it, but went along with it. When someone has it out for her, he goes into protective mode. They do not know who is targeting her or why, except that it is escalating. I loved how everything played out in this book, the writing and plotting is fantastic, as is the world building and character growth and development. There are many layers to the story and the characters, the drama is non-stop, the mystery of who is after Grae keeps you thinking and the thrilling and suspenseful moments take you to the edge of your seat. I also loved how much heart went into this story, the emotions pour off the pages and straight to your own heart. It was great to be back and spend time in Cedar Ridge with some of my favorite characters. Catherine Cowles, thank you for another amazing story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧I listened to the audible edition and, once again, Catherine Cowles chose the perfect cast to bring her characters and story to life. The superbly talented Joe Arden and Erin Mallon did an amazing job portraying these characters and humanizing them. Their character voices were consistent and spot-on, with each one fitting that character’s persona, making them believable in every role they played. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured the character’s emotions and had you feeling them all. These entertaining storytellers are versatile voice artists and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another exceptional listen.

Glimmers of You is the third book in the Lost & Found series. It can be read as a stand-alone (but really, don’t do that because all the books in this series are amazing)

Grae is tired of everyone trying to manage her life for her but when Trouble with a capital T arrives at her doorstep she needs to lean on someone.

Caden wants to be the one Grae relies on but he is dealing with some of his own dramas including a family that has been torn apart by tragedy and a business that his dad seems to want to turn into a competition to the death.

The story is
- brother’s best friend (done really well without unnecessary drama)
- Fake relationship
- Forced proximity
- And suspense that keeps you guessing to the very end.

I listened to most of this book on audio and loved the narrators. Definitely worth going the audiobook route <3
