Some doors, once opened, cannot be closed. Giles Chamberlain returns to a snowbound Cambridge with something to prove. He has promised Raquel he will find out what became of her missing brother, and Giles is not a man to let a promise go. But the college he comes back to is not the one he left. Something is prowling the frozen courts after dark, and when it nearly kills him, Giles knows for certain that last term's horror was not the end of it.

Professor Gupta will say nothing. So Giles gathers his friends, their old quarrels set aside, and sets out to uncover the truth the tight-lipped academic has spent so long burying. What they find beneath the college is worse than any of them imagined, and it teaches Giles exactly how far Gupta will go to keep his secret, and how to open the door the Professor has guarded for a lifetime.

Some doors should never be opened. Giles is about to learn why.

Gate of Shadows is the second novel in the Cambridge Gothic series. Atmospheric, warm-hearted dark academia steeped in the real Cambridge, it is for readers who love Ben Aaronovitch's Rivers of London and Jodi Taylor's Chronicles of St Mary's, and for anyone drawn to the secrets kept behind ancient college walls.

Even better than book 1, in my humble opinion. I am invested in the gang

I really enjoyed the first book and the second didn't disappoint, great story, very good performance. The divergence in story lines keeps things interesting. Well worth a listen!

Great read, loved the first book and love this one

This author really knows how to keep you on the edge of your seat. While listening to this I was often shouting at the characters to buck up and speak to each other rather than just assuming. This book leaves you eagerly awaiting the next instalment.

The narrator allows you to feel what each person is feeling just through his style.

Thank you. Well done. And hurry up with number 3!

So engrossing

It’s rare to find a narrator who so flawlessly takes you through a story that reality is suspended. Wonderfully inventive yarn , pure escapism.

Excellent
