If you’ve ever wondered why Squibs are never offered a place at Hogwarts, what happened when Vernon Dursley first met James Potter, or how Dumbledore and McGonagall formed their lifelong friendship, From the Wizarding Archive should go straight to the top of your wish list. Containing 80 articles written by J.K. Rowling for the original Pottermore website and available for the first time in audio, exclusively from Audible, Harry Potter fans everywhere are in for a treat.

If there’s one thing Harry Potter fans have in common (apart from impeccably good taste), it’s questions… so many questions. From the simple details that perplex us all – was Professor Umbridge always that awful? Why don’t wizards just use phones? – to the personal details that bring us closer to J.K. Rowling’s writing process – from her least favourite school subject and its impact on Professor Snape’s career, to the personal significance of King’s Cross and why it’s always where the Hogwarts Express departs – this is a veritable treasure trove of answers.

Narrated by Evanna Lynch, Hugh Quarshie, Finlay Robertson and Lara Sawalha, and with an exclusive foreword by Evanna Lynch, this spellbinding audiobook is essential listening for any Harry Potter aficionado.

The articles in From the Wizarding Archive were originally written by J.K. Rowling for pottermore.com and remain free to read in English on wizardingworld.com. 35 of the 80 articles were originally published across three Pottermore Presents eBooks. This is the first time any of the content has been available in audio format.

Editorial Review

Essential listening for any Harry Potter fan
I am part of the generation that devoured the Harry Potter books when they were first released, and then consumed the audiobooks as an adult to revisit the magic and share it with my kids, who are now old enough to be avid Harry Potter fans themselves. Imagine my delight when I learned that  From the Wizarding Archive would answer so many of my burning questions about the series. The articles included in the audiobook are not new, but this is the first time they are available in audio, and the fantastic narration (and foreword from Evanna Lynch, who plays Luna Lovegood in the movies!) allows for repeat listening that brings you closer to these spellbinding stories. With family road trips on the horizon (and news of full-cast audiobooks of Harry Potter coming in late 2025), this is a production I’ll be devouring over and over again. — Esther B., Audible Editor

I really enjoyed this additional text expanding on the world we grew up with and adored. The narration was lovely but I would have preferred Stephen Fry to have narrated alongside Evanna Lynch as I found the male narrator irritating as he kept pronouncing Voldermort as 'Voldermor' and it just grated on me.
The noise effects could have been more enjoyable but they were sporadic and threw me off as they sometimes cut out the voices off.
still a really enjoyable experience and I would listen again.

Voldermort....VOLDERMORT!!

As a mildly obsessive Harry Potter fan I found the exploring of previously unknown wizarding knowledge absolutely fascinating. A particularly detailed and interesting part of the audiobook is when it talks about wands which I really enjoyed and found extremely captivating. Also the authors notes are very enjoyable as they explain JK Rowlings original ideas, feelings, regrets and inspirations. I would recommend it to Harry Potter fans (it contains spoilers on all seven books and talks about/quotes cursed child and other Harry Potter related tales).

An amazing archive of fresh wizarding knowledge

It’s good! I wish it were longer with more in depth discussion about things we don’t already know from the books. The way the reader says, “Voldemort” in Draco’s section really stressed me out 🤣

Nice backstory

This book is a great opportunity to hear the backstory to have more insight into JK Rowling's imagination and sources of inspiration.

I agree with other commenters; the Voldermore pronunciation is odd and does catch my attention throughout. However the back ground noises are mostly fine and sit in well with the narration.

Really enjoyable
