About this listen

This program features a new introduction read by Daniel Goleman and a bonus dialogue between the author and Jon Kabat-Zinn.

It is the tenth anniversary since the first publication of Daniel Goleman's groundbreaking bestseller, Emotional Intelligence which maps the territory where IQ meets EQ, where we apply what we know to how we live. Spending over a year on the New York Times bestseller list, Emotional Intelligence provided the evidence for what many successful people already knew: being smart isn't just a matter of mastering facts; it's a matter of mastering your own emotions and understanding the emotions of the people around you.

Critic reviews

“Impressive in its scope and depth, staggering in its implications, Emotional Intelligence gives us an entirely new way of looking at the root causes of many of the ills of our families and our society.” —Jon Kabat-Zinn, Ph.D., author of Wherever You Go, There You Are

There were some interesting ideas in this book but I wish I had bought the abridged version in the end. At the end I thought the book was too flabby and needed to be slimmed down a bit so that interest could be maintained.

The voice of the narrator is terrible, but the content is great. This was an enjoyable listening experience for me.

Fantastic audiobook! Really comprehensive on emotions, why we react the way that we do and practical implications.

Great read however the voice over needs to be updated as the man sounds like he's from the 60s. the overall concept of the book is great and would definitely recommend for those who want to learn more about emotional intelligence.

Very Insightful

Powerful book which had been on my list for a while, but had intended to read IRL copy due to reviews mentioning the robotic narration. Glad I followed through on listening to this version as I struggle to sit with a book - it's an outdated narration style for sure, but I found it easy to follow. So much stuff which has become regular wellbeing, educational and leadership parlance here all in the original place. The in-conversation postscript on the relationship between EQ and mindfulness was a great way to sign off the book. Recommended!
