About this listen

Susan Twist reads this brand new novelisation of a recent TV adventure.

What's gotten into the TARDIS?
Enlisting UNIT in their search for an enigmatic woman who appears all throughout time and space, the Doctor and Ruby uncover deeper mysteries.
What is the secret of Susan Triad? What happened on the night that Ruby was born? The answers lead the Doctor and Ruby to a horrifying confrontation with the greatest evil of all...

Russell T Davies’ epic two-part finale of Ncuti Gatwa’s first season as the Fifteenth Doctor is novelised by series script editor Scott Handcock, reinstating material from earlier drafts. It also concludes the TARDIS travels of Ruby Sunday, played by Millie Gibson. Reader Susan Twist played Susan Triad in the TV series.

I loved the book, it was in depth and really made you feel like you feel how devastating the events of the book were, far more than the episode did. That was because showing the perspective of other characters in different words. I feel like the stakes felt higher than they were in the episode.

However, the narration, didn’t do it for me. Susan Twist is a great actress and she is great in the actual show, but when voicing diolouge it feels bland and for me could sometimes take emotion out of the scenes. Her narration was good though.

Overall I thought this was a great book.
I’d give it an 8/10
