Summary

Diable - A Dog, first appeared in Cosmopolitan Magazine June, 1902. Unlike Buck in The Call of the Wild, this fiercely independent dog was anything but man's best friend. Most thought he was a devil but, as the story says his master Black Leclère was also a devil, "and the twain were well matched."

The severe and chilling voice of veteran narrator Walter Zimmerman is the perfect pairing for this grisly story from Jack London. Playing with the idea of "man's best friend", Diable, A Dog is the story of an independent and wolfish dog, who does well to live up to his hellish name, striking fear in any passersby. Only his owner, Black Leclére, can match Diable's venomous nature. It's a dangerous relationship, and as listeners soon learn there is only one way it can end. Walter Zimmerman's vivid performance will lead listeners right through to the fateful conclusion.
