This audible was well timed as my nan is suffering with dementia and as a family we wanted to gain some experience from the professionals and people who have been through the process already. There are lots of really terrifying decisions we need to make on behalf of our nan and it involves the whole family which is problematic in itself. This audible was great at giving logical advice that followed a great structure. Well narrated and a must listen for anyone going through the Dementia care giving journey.

This book covers so many important things we need to know starting with understanding this memory disease. diagnosis for the person, nutrition, and planning for long-term care. I enjoyed listening to Chapter 9 where it is important, as the caregiver, to take care of myself. If I don't care of me, how will I be able to take care of my loved one? I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this audiobook if you are, or will be, taking care of a person with dementia

A GREAT Resource for Caregivers

If dementia runs in your family, listen to this book NOW so that you can be fully prepared for the tasks ahead of you in the future. If you are already caring for a loved one with dementia, you will benefit from the many tips about how to phrase things and do things in such a way as to keep your loved one in the best possible mood. There are activity suggestions included to help the patient exercise their mind. The types of dementia, and the biological processes that cause memory loss are described and explained. Resources are given in the book as well. Lists are given for you to check for signs of cognitive decline, as well for signs that the loved one needs a care home instead of a caregiver ( and how to find a good one!). The author also discusses the types of end-of-life plans you need to tackle with the loved one while they are still in the early stages, and also has special sections on self-care for the caregiver themselves. The narrator is pleasant to listen to as well. This book is extremely comprehensive and I would recommend that the entire family buy it and listen to it!

Anyone who deals with dementia patients or lives with someone who has dementia absolutely needs to have this audiobook in their collection. Given that my grandpa is now suffering from dementia, the timing of my sister's introduction to it couldn't have been better. In order to take care of our grandfather, we were having to make a number of choices that were utterly terrible, and the fact that these decisions are going to have an effect on the whole family adds an additional degree of complexity to the problem. This audio did an excellent job of presenting helpful information that was organized in a manner that was extremely pleasing to the ear. The narrative was told very clearly, and it is imperative that everyone who will be treading the route of providing care to someone with dementia listen to it now before they start. This is a book that I will wholeheartedly suggest to anybody and everyone since it enlightens us on how to care for and assist those living with dementia.
