About this listen

A detective thriller with a sci-fi twist

A murder too shocking to believe. A detective too haunted to forget.

Buenos Aires, 1985. Inspector Emiliano Vazquez knows the cost of silence. Haunted by the atrocities of Argentina’s Dirty War, he has buried his own complicity deep. But when a grotesque and inexplicable suicide uncovers a mass grave linked to the junta’s war crimes, Vazquez is drawn into a deadly web of secrets, ritual, and manipulation.

The victim’s bizarre death appears tied to a missing page from the Devil’s Bible—a medieval text rumoured to hold the key to immortality through unholy devotion. As Vazquez digs deeper, he encounters the chilling rituals of a sinister death cult, threatening not only his career but his very sanity.

Unearthing horrors beyond comprehension, Vazquez is forced to confront not only the terror of mass suicide but the ghosts of his own past. As reality begins to blur, one question looms: is redemption possible, or are the Inspector’s crimes just as unforgivable?

Death Cult weaves historical horror, psychological tension, and a gripping metaphysical mystery into an unforgettable tale of survival and the human cost of truth.

After reading The Beginning, book I of the Inspector Vazquez series, I commented that I simply couldn't guess where the following books might end. Now I know - or do I? This, book 4, Death Cult, is a really wild and horrendous visual journey through time and imagination, moving ever faster to it's bizarre conclusion from it's staring point of the investigation of a death so outrageous it's validity can scarcely.be believed.

Well written, and with another excellent performance by the masterful Jonathan Keeble, this is another exceptional mystery- cum-horror-cum-sci-fi book by Alex Burri.
