Summary

Rhys

I’m an addict.

I’ve been abused, and I’ve been the abuser.

My entire life has been a blur, filled with misery and anguish.

I’m trying my best to stay clean and lucid even when my world feels dark.

Now, I have to stay away from the woman who makes everything murky and complicated.

Blair

I’ve always been a toy for others to use.

A spoiled, broken girl who’s never been seen because no one ever tried.

He sees me though. Holding up a mirror and showing me exactly who I am with absolute clarity.

Is that a good thing?

I’m not sure.

Wow, this book is a mind blow it takes you on an emotional rollercoaster ride and has you loving every minute of it. Nicole Dykes is a gifted author, the creates complex stories that sucks you in to their depth holding your attention hostage the entire time. Her storylines and characters are realistic, easy to relate to and connect with. This is no happy go lucky story, the characters are flawed and broken and you can not help but to feel for them and root for them to succeed. I adored the two lead characters Rhys and Blair, while each have their own issues Rhys is more of a lost soul, he keeps every in the world at arms length. His story is heartbreaking and the more you learn of it and what he endured the more you understand him and his drive. I admired Blair for her willingness to stick around, give him the space he needed and for supporting his cause with out even knowing why and what drove him. I guess in a way she knew but not exact details, she was patient with him and let him tell her in his own time. I loved how everything plays out in this book, the story is well plotted with plenty of drama, angst, heartfelt and emotional moments and a romance like no other. This book comes with a note stating it contains sensitive subjects, I must say the author keeps it all real and does a great job covering the topics. Shout out to some of the secondary characters who play a big part in Rhys and Blair’s story. Nicole Dykes, thank you for another awesome story & emotional rollercoaster ride, thanks for keeping it all real and for bringing light to some real issues and the damage it can cause.

🎧📚🎧 And for the wonderful narration, Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross did an awesome job portraying the characters, humanizing them while giving each their own voice. They grasped each character’s persona, took the role and made it their own. Kai played Blair’s role with perfection, captured strength, vulnerability as well as her passionate heart. Wen Ross played Rhys with perfection, intense, dark and troubled. The secondary characters were all well done too. You could hear how much heart they put into their work as they captured all the characters emotions and projected them into their performance. They are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another awesome listen

I listened to Clarity in Audiobook format with Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross narrating and they were the perfect choice to bring Rhys and Blair to life. I will admit I had reservations to begin with, it took me maybe 5 or 6 chapters to get into the story after feeling like I was missing some back story to these characters (which apparently comes from Redemption). Clarity is the story of their relationship together rather than secondary characters, once I grasped that I was much happier. Wen Ross's performance as Blair again took me a little while to settle with, why you ask? she has a lower/masculine tone to her voice and Blair visually looks like a Barbie so my imagination wasn't gelling with what I was hearing. However the more I got to know Blair as a character, Wen truly was the perfect casting choice! She nails her brazen, confident attitude and doesn't take any of the shade Rhys throws her way and he throws a lot at her!

The story turned out to be something I didn't expect and not something I have really come across before. A fake relationship covering some real chemistry, one scared young girl thrown into their lives by chance and a way to gain clarity and heal for both Rhys and Blair transpires. I really loved the strength Nicole gave Blair as the lead female in the story. She was tenacious, determined, understanding and still held a softness when it was needed. She is a woman that owns her confidence and sexuality without shame yet doesn't throw it people's faces, she was really easy to admire. Rhys was a character I didn't really know what to expect from, what I got was a man so hurt he doesn't know how to recover from the scars he hides. He is a man filled with so much love but he doesn't know how to show that to others.

Clarity is a novel that pulls on your heartstrings, it is so much more than just a romance story and I admired the multiple layers Nicole added and each were so well developed and thought out. You can tell a lot of care went into making sure this story was right and Nicole most definitely pulled it off.

A fake relationship with a whole lot of heart

OMG! I was not expecting that! This book has so much depth and raw emotions twisted in. I loved it. Reece is damaged and Blair was the only one to look past it. There story was rocky from the very beginning. This is going to be moved to my top ten books! Wen really captured the true essence of Reese's character. Kai did an amazing job also!

If you are looking for a story to capture your interest and keep you riveted as you read, you need to grab a book by Nicole Dykes. Rhys is broken. A man who as a result from the flawed foster care system found his way into self medication. His destructive ways finally came to a head, and now he is clean. But he still has much to overcome. When he is comes across Blair, he is attracted, but can't do anything about it. Not willing to take no for an answer, she begins to break down barriers. Now faced with the chance to change another person's life, the two join together, not only to help, but because of their ever growing feelings. But will it be enough? Dykes writes a compelling story of addiction, abuse and redemption that captivated my listening time. I was intrigued with Rhys and Blair. Each flawed, they worked together to find their normal. Not easy, not glossed over, Dykes keeps the grittiness real. My heart hurt in parts and was filled with love in others. It's the perfect mix and she leaves us wide open for the next one! I can't wait to see what will occur!

Narrated by one of my favorite teams, Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross brings this incredible story to life. It's very emotionally driven, and these two nail it. Kennicott comes in as Blair, and she is strong willed and determined. As Rhys, Ross brings in his brokenness and lets us feel his pain. The chemistry of this team shines through and makes the characters that much more realistic. It's a fantastic listen.

It's very clear!
