Thomas Mann's Buddenbrooks is a true classic of German literature. Despite being published in 1901 it remains fresh and draws the reader into the life of this 19th century German family. What Gert Westphal achieves here, is to make an already engrossing story leap off the page and come to life with energy, passion and a brilliant audio identity of each character. One of the best audiobooks I have listened to on Audible - time find more Gert Westphal German classics!
