You won't be able to put this down. I listened over 2 days and just when you think you've got it sussed, you realise you've been misdirected. My only niggle is Arachne's voice has changed slightly but that's me being pedantic. The plot is very well thought out and it's fantastic to see how each detail has been tightly woven.

You are left literally craving for more!

Love the Alex Verus series, and this is another great chapter from the life of our favourite diviner. There is still no clear path as to how the series will end, which I find refreshing. Jacka keeps the readers on their toes with every book. One of the best urban fantasy series of the 2000s. I enjoyed Gildart Jackson's voice and narration on the other books. The first chapter of this recording is, for whatever reason, read annoyingly slow.

This is the 8th in the Alec Verus series by Benedict Jacka.

Alex has been blackmailed into becoming an aide for Mordon, a dark mage, and at the beck and call of his old Master, Richard.

He and his friends fight for their lives and for the safety of Council.

I would recommend this book, but it would help to have read some of the previous ones!
