About this listen

A dramatic monologue performed by Charles D. Baker.

St. John is reflecting on his life in the company of friends and well-wishers during his last day on Earth. This is a beautiful devotion to a humble, holy man. St. John recalls and recites scriptures from the Old and New Testaments.

Mr. Baker tours this production as well as his others on the lives of St. Paul and St. Francis of Assisi. You are invited to call him with any questions at 410-829-6105.

Reminded me of my 83-year old father. No matter what the injustices he suffers from an uncaring establishment in the UK - he chuckles and transforms the callous hatred into a divine light! His body has been pushed from pillar to post - but his mind - his spirit - remains completely free, loving, and detached. All is dissolved into light and we are left with a worry he refuses to acknowledge. Of course, my father (Moses Waveman) is not John the Baptist, but like John - old age and circumstance have physically trapped his slowly (but surely) failing body. And here we all are together - discussing imprisonment, oppression, and yet drawn to an extraordinary being who has achieved complete freedom.
