The rise of One Nation continues to drive a realignment on the right of Australian politics. This week, we saw signs of a possible shift in the progressive centre. A handful of independent parliamentarians have spoken up about the possibility for a new teal-tinged party. It comes as the government pushes ahead with budget reform after worsening poll numbers for the prime minister, and Tony Abbott is set to be crowned as the next president of the Liberal party.
