A scientist from another world. A mage seeking deadly knowledge. A power that could topple an empire.

Nathan's life was defined by labs and lectures until an Archmage yanked him into Davrar and made him a tantalizing offer: master magic in exchange for Earth's scientific secrets. Yet, Nathan can't shake off the feeling that darker truths lurk beneath such promises.

The world of Davrar is a dangerous place teeming with dungeons and monsters–ruled by levels, Talents, and a near-infinite progression of power. Nathan will need to rely on himself to survive, forging alliances and taking every advantage he can get against those that seek to control him.

His unique capacity to counteract magic gives him an unprecedented edge, making him a beacon of resistance against those who wield magic as a weapon of control.
Armed with intellect and an emerging power that could dismantle the very foundations of Davrar's society, Nathan emerges not as a mere student of magic, but as its ultimate adversary: the Antimage.

This book is for the true geek. Not only the usual stats and litrpg progression but also some good science.

A story in a similar vein but it stood out. Anti magic. Who knew. And the lack of minutes endlessly going through levels was refreshing

Anti magic interesting

The concept of anti-magic instantly caught my interest, but the idea of grounding it in science, insight, and detailed understanding makes it so exciting and interesting each time the MC has to fight a new spell.

The overall story is great and I love the characters. Absolutely loved that the MC is bi and I think there was a hint that an important secondary character is trans!! It's annoyingly rare to see queer representation so that was awesome, would love to see more in the rest of the series! Also love that the MC is rational AND instantly hates the colonial slaver people. Can't wait for them to get destroyed in future books!

The performance was great, it's lovely to hear dialogue read with stage directions (actually laughing or coughing lines when the characters do). makes the story and characters feel more real. My only criticism is that his female voices weren't great, but there are a wealth of trans women who have made great resources for creating more accurate female voices. I see many "heat from fire"s in your future 😂

My favourite system in a long time

I generally don't see the point of a magic world where the mc does something non magical but the way the author goes about this is brilliant in every way. There is probably more magic in what the MC does that most other books. truly amazing and the narrator is great at what they do.

Brilliant and Captivating

This writer liked the word shrug I'm assuming.
it only detracts from the story in a minor way.
decent story, decent performance 👍

there's a whole lot of shrugging going on
