A “listen before falling asleep” book. Narration was rather annoyingly cloying. Shame, cause there was so much scope for character development especially given the historical period but unfortunately this didn’t happen.

I've listened to this book and the sequel which I brought 3 times. The narration is great and such wonderful detail. Having visited Whitby it's lovely to get a characterisation of abbess hilda who threw the snakes off the cliff!! I wish I knew where the story of the herb wife went next if anyone could persuade the author to write a third!!
