Summary
A Cursed Mark. A Shadow Prince. A Love That Could Burn the World Down.
Welcome to the Shadow Court—where loyalty is bought in blood, magic is a weapon, and desire can be deadlier than war. Seren D’Vara was born with a mark that no scholar can name and no kingdom dares to claim. Hunted by the Light Court and feared by all, she’s spent her life in hiding—until the night her magic erupts and a stranger cloaked in shadow steps from the dark.
Kael is the enigmatic Prince of the Shadow Court—cold, feared, and bound by ancient blood oaths. When Seren's power ignites beneath the blood moon, he doesn’t see a girl on the run. He sees something far more dangerous: an untamed force the Courts would kill to control.
Dragged into a world of ruthless politics, forbidden magic, and deadly attraction, Seren must decide who to trust and who to destroy. As war brews between realms and secrets rise from ash, the bond between her and Kael deepens—and so does the danger.
But love in the dark always comes with a price. And some thrones can only be claimed in fire.
Thorns of Midnight is a wickedly steamy, slow-burn enemies-to-lovers fantasy romance perfect for fans of Sarah J. Maas (A Court of Thorns and Roses), Raven Kennedy (The Plated Prisoner Series), Jennifer L. Armentrout (From Blood and Ash Court).

What stood out most for me was the world-building. The Shadow Court feels richly imagined, with its blood-bound oaths and dangerous allure, and the contrast with the Light Court adds depth without overwhelming the narrative. The author’s use of language is evocative, and the audiobook format enhances this with atmospheric sound design that subtly underscores key moments. It’s a tale of forbidden magic, loyalty tested in fire, and love that refuses to be tamed—and I found myself lingering over the final chapters, reluctant to leave its haunting beauty behind.
